Three Important Tips To Help You Develop Lengthy Natural Black Locks
If you want to grow long natural hair it is important that you educate yourself about your hair type and the specials needs that hair type has.
African American hair is naturally quite fragile and must be handled carefully. Curly hair is naturally more fragile than straight hair. Every bend in the hair shaft represents a weak point that can easily break off. Treating your hair well will help prevent breakage and damage and help it grow more quickly.
On average your hair grows about 1/2 every month. Some people’s hair will grow more and some less. That is partly dependent on genetics, but how well you care for your body will also affect it.
Here are some tips to help you have long natural tresses.
Products
Using high quality products is essential to having healthy, soft, moisturized hair. Whenever I say high quality I am not necessarily talking about the price of the product. I’m talking about the ingredients that product contains. Numerous items include inexpensive elements which provide hair short-term shine whilst robbing this of moisture. Products that are gentle and moisturizing will help keep your hair soft and healthy.
Avoid products that contain isopropyl alcohol, petroleum, mineral oil, and sodium lauryl sulfate. These ingredients are all drying to the hair. Dry tresses will be more prone to breakage and harder to grow quickly.
Look for products with natural ingredients that will moisturize the hair and make it feel soft. Natural oils and butters are great for our hair. Water is another really good ingredient to look for in a hair product. Water is the only thing that can truly moisturize.
Care
Don’t be rough with your tresses. Curly hair is quite fragile and can’t handle any rough treatment. Make sure to detangle gently and slowly. Use the wide tooth comb and a product that provides plenty of slip for detangling. Detangle small sections at a time. Start at the ends of the hair and slowly work your way up the section to the root to detangle.
Don’t use sharp tools when styling. Make sure that your combs don’t have any rough seams and that none of your styling accessories have sharp metal bits that can cause breakage.
Keep your hair moisturized. Make sure you use conditioner every time you wash your tresses. Deep condition on a regular basis too.
Avoid chemical treatments that can damage the hair. Relaxing as well as perishing break down the actual structure from the lengths making them much more prone to breakage.
Lifestyle
The way you treat your body affects your hair growth. The body needs certain vitamins to grow long hair. Make sure you eat a healthy balanced diet to help you get the vitamins you need. Be sure you’re getting enough of the following vitamins and minerals.
- protein
- B-6
- biotin
- inositol
- folic acid
- magnesium
- sulfur
- silica
- zinc
You can get these items by eating a healthy diet that includes plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. Eating healthy will make a big difference. If you aren’t sure if you’re getting all the vitamins and minerals you need you can take a one-a-day multivitamin too.
